Express Entry Canada

EXPRESS ENTRY CANADA

The Express Entry Program, launched in 2015, offers a streamlined pathway for professionals and their families worldwide to migrate to Canada, often within a few months, under the Canadian Immigration Points system. This program has become one of the most popular methods for immigrating to Canada, with thousands of new residents arriving each year through this fast-track process.

Express Entry functions as an application management system under Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), which oversees the submission and processing of profiles for three major Canadian Federal Economic Immigration programs targeting skilled workers:

  • The Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • The Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • The Canadian Experience Class

Canada’s Express Entry system uses the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to assess and rank individuals eligible to immigrate under these three federal economic immigration programs.

Candidates in the pool receive a score out of 1,200 based on various factors like age, education, work experience, and language skills. The highest-ranking candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency.

Once an Invitation to Apply (ITA) is issued, applicants have 60 days to submit their visa application and supporting documents. If an applicant’s Express Entry profile does not receive an ITA within one year, the profile will expire.

Basic Requirements:

  • Age: Applicants must be between 18 and 45 years old at the time of submitting their visa application.
  • English Language: A minimum competency in English is required, typically demonstrated by achieving at least 6 bands in each section of a language test.
  • Nominated Occupation: Applicants' skills and qualifications must align with an occupation listed under the National Occupation Classification (NOC).
  • Educational Credential Assessment (ECA): Applicants need to have their foreign educational credentials evaluated by one of the five authorities designated by IRCC.
  • Health Assessment: A medical examination by an approved panel physician is required to ensure that applicants meet the health standards necessary for Canadian immigration.
  • Character Assessment: Applicants must provide proof of good character, usually through a police clearance certificate.
  • Proof of Settlement Funds: For those applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), it's mandatory to show proof of sufficient funds to support themselves and their family members during their initial settlement in Canada. The required minimum amount varies, and applicants are encouraged to declare the full amount available to them in their application.
